Last night I went to sleep the mother of little kids and woke up this morning as the mother of kindergarteners! It was pretty exciting around here early this morning.
We took the girls to school early so they could play and get acquainted with their surroundings. Meet the teacher time was 7:50am and the parents got to stay until 8:15am or so. Sidney showed some mild signs of anxiety but when the door to the classroom opened, she put on her brave face and led Sophia through the door. She was a little nervous to meet the teacher but once that was done, she was good to go. Sophia was a trooper and couldn't wait to get in the classroom, meet the teacher and start school. The girls share the same classroom and the teacher was kind enough to sit them next to each other at their table.
I explained to the girls if they got scared that they should just hold each other's hand. When I picked them up today, I asked them if they held hands at all and they said no. They were excited about their trip to the library and computer lab today and most excited about seeing a couple of friends from preschool on the playground. When I asked if they were excited about going to school tomorrow, they both said yes. Ahhh success...
