Chinatown

The girls start kindergarten tomorrow. They both will be in the same classroom and apparently they have been assigned to a great teacher. Each of them are looking forward to starting school. Thank goodness because I would hate to have to go through what I went through with Sidney last year (standing outside of the preschool classroom with Sidney clinging to my leg yelling "but I'm not ready to start school!").

Since they are beginning a long journey of attending school, my friend Kathy and I decided to take them to Chinatown in San Francisco for the day (with her nephew Billy who is also starting kindergarten). The three of them get along famously and the girls think Billy is the funniest guy ever!

We took BART into the city, had good Chinese food/ate with chopsticks, shopped, went tea tasting, rode the cable car, visited the fortune cookie factory and just had a really fun day. The kids loved everything...they even got into tea tasting which was a surprise to me. At the end of the day the kids got to shop for toys. Each of them picked out these bird cages with little birds that spin and chirp. They just love them (probably because they are so loud and drive me crazy!). The girls can't wait to go back to Chinatown.

Before we got to BART on the way to SF, we had to run a couple of errands. Sophia kept asking "are we in China yet?", "is this China?" when we were really in the Safeway parking lot.

Sophia's fortune from her fortune cookie: "You will be showered with good luck before your next birthday."

Sidney's fortune from her fortune cookie: "The world will look a little better with some love given by you!"
