First day of preschool

The girls were both excited and anxious about school today. Sophia was most excited about being a big girl and going to school like the big kids on our street. Sidney was worried about being away from me because she said she would be lonely. We arrived at the school a little early so we could walk around and play before school started. That went well. Sidney showed signs of anxiety when we lined up to go into the classroom. She held on to me tight and kept saying she wasn't ready. Thank goodness Sophia was ready to roll. All the parents came into the classroom with kids and followed the kids around to each of the stations. The girls loved everything in the classroom, running from station to station....the classroom even has their own pet. After about 5-10 minutes, the teachers would call each family over to get their photo taken. Once you took your photo that was your cue to leave. Sophia kissed me goodbye and continued on playing. Sidney went into anxiety mode and the head teacher took over. It was so hard leaving her like that...screaming in the background. The head teacher was so nice and whispered to me that they were all equipped to deal with this. I felt like such a mean mom making my kid go to school where she would have fun, make friends, play and learn. When my mom and I picked them up today, they were all smiles and can't wait to go back on Wednesday. My mom asked Sidney if she was going to cry on Wednesday when she drops her off and Sidney said yes. That about sums everything up. Here's the pics from today.
